Classes

Our class schedule is updated frequently. We try to get the information onto the web site in a timely way, but Allison and Jaime do things like this instead of sleeping so sometimes it takes longer than we would like. The easiest way to make sure you get current information is to sign up for our email newsletter so that you'll receive the class schedule when Allison sends it. Please be aware that this can be an image intensive email. If you don't have a high speed connection, you may be less annoyed at the length of time it takes to download if you turn off the image display for emails that come from FibersGrassValley.com Click to see our current September 2007 class schedule!

Classes that are always offered are beginning knitting, project classes and the Manos Blanket class:

Beginning Knitting

You don't have to wait for a scheduled class to learn how to knit. We prefer to teach knitting one-on-one, at your convenience. For $10 we'll teach you to cast on, knit, purl and bind off. We don't hover over you but we don't neglect you, either. We'll get you started, let you sit and knit until you have a question for us or help you fix a mistake. We'll also help you to get acquainted with the information on the yarn labels and needle packages. You can come back as often as you need for help with your stitches.

Please call before you come in for a class so that we can make sure we have time for the lesson.

Project Classes

We're not mind-readers. We offer classes on a monthly basis but sometimes we're teaching socks when you want to learn sweaters; or maybe you need help learning to read a pattern and gain confidence so that in the future, you can do it by yourself. For times like these, we offer Project Classes, a fabulous deal where for $10, we'll help you through a new project -- start to finish.

Project Classes include unlimited instruction -- we'll make sure you're reading the pattern correctly, that your gauge is correct (this is to make sure that your garment will fit when you're done); we'll also help to fix mistakes and make sure you understand why you made the mistake so you can avoid it in the future.

If you can find a better deal for a Project Class than the $10 we charge, let us know! A Project Class is like training wheels, but for knitting. Pretty soon, you'll be coasting on your own, ready to explore and conquer new projects by yourself!

Club Manos

This class has become wildly popular because it's perfect for people who already know how to knit but who don't have a lot of confidence yet. Choose your palette from the entire range of Manos colors--we're one of the only shops in the area that regularly carries all 97 colors. It's a long project but by the end, you'll have acquired important skills and a cozy blanket under which you can snooze and dream about your next knitting project!
