Weaving Gallery
Here are some of the fun things we've been making on the Ashford Knitters' looms. Some of these scarves are for sale in the store, and some are projects created by our new weavers. If you've taken the Weave for a Day class please send us some photos!

Pat talks about her tablerunners: I've made three tablerunners so far, and have another few in the planning stages. One time I had everything go wrong -- the cat decided to be a cat and attack a yarn ball, the dog chased the cat, they pulled off the warping peg, everything was on the floor!! It was a mess!! But believe it or not, I got it righted, and it all came out okay. Very forgiving. One of the things that I love about it is the infinite variations. I spend so much time thinking about how the different combinations might come out; it really satisfies my puzzle-solving need. I also like how quickly I can turn something out -- very satisfying. | |
This is one of the first scarves I wove, to learn how to make vertical stripes. Wasn't I surprised to see horizontal stripes on the other side, when I took it off the loom! (Allison) |
This was woven with a solid red warp and one ball of long striping wool yarn. I love how the colors change gradually from one to another. (Allison) |
| This was my first attempt at plaid. There are lots of ways to use stash yarns when you weave, because just a little bit can make a lengthwise stripe. This one is woven with a long-striping, handspun weft yars.(Allison) | This log cabin scarf requires a more complicated warp, but I love how the eye is fooled by the color placement! I also really like how the solid yarn and the multi interact with each other as they weave over and under. (Allison) |
| This houndstooth scarf was totally easy to warp and weave! It's made from 2 skiens of Ultra Alpaca and I love to wear it! (Allison) |
Distrato is a hairy and not-hairy novelty yarn. I thought it would be fun to see what it did on the loom. (Allison)
